Investing in the Future of the Trades with RTMA
At Oxford Services, we are always looking for ways to invest in the future of the trades and bring new talent into the industry. That is why we were excited to partner with the Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association and their NYS Registered Apprenticeship Program.
In January, Oxford welcomed our first HVAC apprentice through the program, Caroline Motsay. Since joining the team, Caroline has been working alongside our experienced HVAC professionals, gaining hands-on experience while applying the skills she has learned in the classroom to real-world situations.
One of the things that first drew Caroline to the apprenticeship program was the opportunity to combine school and work experience at the same time. After being introduced to the trades through friends who work as mechanics, she began researching different career paths and quickly developed an interest in HVAC.
Since starting at Oxford, Caroline has enjoyed learning directly from the team and says everyone has been extremely kind and patient as she continues to build her skills. So far, she is especially proud of learning brazing and electrical work, two important skills that are already helping build her confidence in the field.
The RTMA Apprenticeship Program is designed to help students gain the hands-on experience and technical knowledge needed for a successful career in the trades. The program follows an “earn while you learn” model, allowing apprentices to receive paid, on-the-job training while continuing their education. Currently, the program partners with more than 35 companies and supports over 325 apprentices throughout the nine-county region.
Programs like RTMA are helping create new opportunities for the next generation of skilled trades professionals while offering an alternative pathway to a traditional four-year college degree. Oxford Services is proud to be part of that mission and help support the future of the HVAC industry.
If you are interested in a career in the trades and want to gain real-world experience while continuing your education, we encourage you to learn more about the RTMA Apprenticeship Program and stay tuned for future apprenticeship opportunities with Oxford Services.
